Hansen’s Everett resume

Ed Hansen, 62, has in the past been an aide to U.S. Sen. Henry "Scoop" Jackson, a lawyer for the town of Woodway and the Port of Everett, a co-founder of Snohomish County-based Frontier Bank and has served on the board of Sound Transit.

He’s been Everett’s mayor since 1994. During that time, Hansen, an Everett native and champion bowler, has brought the city to the table on regional issues, reaching out to both Republicans and Democrats.

He made sure that the Regional Transit Authority proposal for mass transit throughout Puget Sound brought enough services to Everett before he signed on to support it. He also helped squelch the idea of a commercial airport in Snohomish County.

  • Partnerships were formed so that the Pacific Avenue overpass and the newly built Everett Station were built within budget. Other street and pedestrian improvements completed under Hansen’s terms include extending the Interurban Trail to south Everett, constructing the Riverfront Trail in Lowell, and the Evergreen Way project that provided seven lanes of traffic.

  • Millions of dollars in park improvements, acquisitions and expansions, including Wiggums Hollow Park, Walter Hall Skateboard Park and the Phil Johnson Ballfields.

  • Awards such as the Everett Centennial Citizen award, the John Fluke Community Service Award, the Dean Echelbarger Community Service Award and the Hero Award of the Snohomish County Boys &Girls Club.
