EVERETT — Longtime Everett business owner Arlan Hatloe announced this week he will seek City Council Position 3, currently held by Dan Warnock.
He is the second challenger to enter the race.
Hatloe is a third-generation businessman whose family owns Hatloe’s Decorating Center. He is chairman of the board of directors of the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce.
He said his experience in the business world gives him leadership qualities to listen to the public and get things done. He said he will focus on quality of life, public safety and community development issues.
Hatloe, 60, said leadership is needed in issues such as the proposed events center, possible riverfront development and ongoing traffic congestion.

Certified mental health professional Roy Sykes, 52, also has announced for the position. Sykes lives in the Riverside Neighborhood. He is the deputy director of the Baker Street Ministries and administrator for the organization’s New Life Recovery Center, a chemical dependency treatment program.
