They probably thought they were just nabbing a backpack, with maybe an iPod or some cash inside.
Now, someone has Terry Preshaw’s magical, top-of-the-line French horn, and they probably don’t know what they’re dealing with.
Preshaw said someone nabbed her horn from her backseat Thursday in the 2700 block of Oakes Avenue in Everett. The business immigration lawyer from Mukilteo is downright heartbroken.
The police are on the case, Everett Police Sgt. Robert Goetz said Friday.
The horn community around the country has been notified to keep an eye out, Preshaw said.
She bought the horn for $6,500, but it could be worth much more, she said. It’s a Finke Triple Horn Americus model, handmade of brass in Germany.
A new one could run as much as $12,000, she said. The horn’s previous owner is a renowned musician, and every note it sounded was beautiful.
“It was the horn of a lifetime,” she said Friday. “I just feel heartsick about its loss.”
Preshaw is trying to find a substitute horn for upcoming performances, but it just won’t be the same.
“So far everything I’ve tried has just been awful compared to this horn,” she said. “This horn was magic.”
