EVERETT — The Rev. Lloyd John Ogilvie, who served as chaplain to the U.S. Senate from 1995 to 2003, is the keynote speaker at the YMCA of Snohomish County’s annual Good Friday prayer breakfast this morning.
The Presbyterian pastor and prolific self-help author was responsible for opening the Senate in prayer, hosting a weekly prayer breakfast and leading five Senate Bible study and prayer groups.
More than 600 residents, church and community leaders are expected to attend the 48th annual prayer breakfast.
The Rev. Dan Kellogg of Gold Creek Community Church will preside over the event, which will include music by the Cascade Community Church Youth Choir.
Jackson High School sophomore Alexa Warnek is scheduled to give the invocation; Margie Rodriguez, assistant principal at Frank Wagner Elementary School in Monroe will give a scripture reading; and Snohomish County Sheriff John Lovick will give a reading of the benediction.
