Supporters of Initiative 1098 began airing a television commercial today featuring Bill Gates Sr. The ad is airing on stations around the state and will be running for awhile.
“Middle class families are struggling. 1098 will cut state property taxes by 20 percent and eliminate the B&O tax for small businesses. It will dedicate $2 billion a year to improve education and health care and only the wealthiest 1.2 percent will pay more,” Gates Sr. says in the 30-second ad.

On Tuesday, opponents of the liquor privatization measures, Initiatives 1100 and 1105, started running 30-second commercials on stations around the state.
One features a winemaker telling how passage of the initiatives could lead stores to stock fewer Washington wines in order to make room for hard liquor.
The other features a firefighter talking about the increased risk to public safety by having more places selling booze. He concludes it is “too high a price for a little more convenience.
