GOLDENDALE — The Washington Transportation Department says State Highway 14 in the Columbia River Gorge near Goldendale has reopened after repairs to fix pavement damaged by weekend mudslides.
The section of roadway between U.S. Highway 97 and State Highway 221 reopened Monday evening.
Spokeswoman Heidi Sause says crews had to repair about 600 feet of damaged pavement.
The affected section of highway was closed Saturday night after a thunderstorm washed mud, rocks and debris onto the road.
The repairs are estimated to cost $150,000.
The spokeswoman says the highway in that area carries an average of 1,400 drivers a day.
