MARYSVILLE – An Arlington man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Tuesday after he crashed into the back of a truck on Highway 9.
A hardware store truck driver was attempting to turn left from the highway at 108th Street NE about 2:30 p.m. when he was struck from behind by a Ford Escort, Washington State Patrol trooper Tim Crane said.
The Escort slid under the truck, trapping the man, 78, inside. The highway was shut down for about two hours.

Everett: Bid to hike power rates stalls
A proposal to raise the rates Snohomish County PUD pays its largest supplier of electricity was dealt a major blow Tuesday, but isn’t dead yet, experts said.
President Bush’s bid to help pay the national debt by making energy wholesalers including the Bonneville Power Administration charge market rates for the electricity they sell didn’t make it out of the U.S. House of Representatives Budget Committee, said U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee, D-Wash. The U.S. Senate also left the measure out of its proposed budget.
The battle is not over because Bush can push his proposal as the budget process proceeds.
