SNOHOMISH – A head-on collision on the south end of the Snohomish River Bridge on Thursday evening injured three people and closed Highway 9 for two hours, according to the Washington State Patrol.
A 21-year-old Snohomish woman in a Dodge Neon was northbound on Highway 9 about 5:30 p.m. when she struck a guardrail on the south end of the bridge. Her car was deflected into oncoming traffic, striking a Ford pickup.
The woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with a broken leg and other injuries.
A 52-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman in the Ford, both of Arlington, were treated for injuries at Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus.
The State Patrol is still investigating the accident and hasn’t determined whether anyone will be cited.
Traffic was detoured around the bridge on Airport Way until the highway was reopened at 7:30 p.m.
Everett: Indiana murder suspect caught
An Indiana man wanted for murder was arrested at an Everett motel Wednesday night.
Demetrius Franklin, 29, of Fort Wayne, Ind., was tracked down at the Motel 6 on 128th Street SW, U.S. Marshal Eric Robertson said Thursday.
Franklin had just arrived by Greyhound bus and checked into the motel using an alias. The Pacific Northwest Fugitive Apprehension Task Force arrested him in his motel room about 9:15 p.m.
Franklin was wanted in connection with the shooting death of a man, 31, earlier this month. It is believed that he was headed toward Seattle to hide with family members.
