Highway to be closed for culvert work in Sky Valley

MALTBY – Drivers who use Highway 524 (Maltby Road) should plan for full closures and detours this weekend as Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews replace a culvert under the highway.

This is a maintenance project and not related to the state’s fish passage projects.

Both directions of Highway 524 between 43rd Avenue SE and 55th Avenue SE will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. A signed detour will be in place. Local traffic will be allowed to access property during the closures.

Elsewhere in the Sky Valley, Highway 203 in Duvall is to be closed for eight days to replace a culvert to reduce flooding risk and improve fish passage. The highway is to be closed in both directions, between NE Valley Street and NE Kennedy Drive, from 2 a.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Aug. 25.
