EVERETT — The pigs are loose again.
The first batch of piggy banks with $10 inside were released Wednesday in the treasure hunt by Peoples Bank for 1,000 pigs with bellies of cash. The grand prize is $1,000.
This is the sixth year the bank has hid cash-filled pigs. In 2022, 500 pigs stuffed with $20 were let out of the pen.
The translucent green pigs sport black eyeglasses. The plastic oinkers are small, so watch where you step.
The pigs will be placed around towns with Peoples Bank locations in six counties. In Snohomish County, branches are in Everett, Edmonds, Mill Creek and Snohomish. Island County banks are in Freeland, Coupeville and Oak Harbor.
Those who find a pig can qualify for the $1,000 grand prize by submitting a photo of themselves at their favorite local landmark at peoplesbank-wa.com/pigs. The grand winner will be randomly selected and announced Sept. 25.
“The Great Peoples Bank Pig Search is a fun way for Peoples Bank to connect with our community, encouraging a little outdoor adventure and sparking conversations about financial wellness,” Kamyar Monsef, chief retail banking officer at Peoples Bank, said in a news release.
