EVERETT — Frauna Hoglund, a 20-year veteran of Everett political battles, was elected chairwoman of the Snohomish County Republican Central Committee on Wednesday night.
Precinct committee officers chose Hoglund from three candidates on the first ballot for the two-year term.
She decisively defeated two-year party chairman Jerry Miller of Mill Creek. Hoglund garnered 102 votes to Miller’s 53. The third candidate, Terry Laxton, of Monroe, had 21 votes.
Republican Party officials apparently were dissatisfied with recent poor Republican showings in county and state elections.
"I believe we need to get (the GOP) back to the grass-roots level," Hoglund said. "We need to put Republicans back into office."
Hoglund, 62, has been a involved with the Republican party in Everett for 20 years.
