It’s the time of the year when there are dozens of opportunities to opportunities to buy dip mix, turkey-shaped wind spinners, lavender bath salts, pot holders or peanut brittle.
From now until Christmas, groups, churches, neighborhoods and clubs offer weekend bazaars, craft and art shows.
It’s also an opportunity for local creators such as Muriel Pederson to show off their one-of-a-kind creations.
Some 20 years ago, Pederson created a dry spice mix for her grandson, who was allergic to MSG. She combined her recipe with sour cream and shared it with friends and family. It was a hit.
She now sells a variety of dry mixes at shows around the Northwest, including this week’s Christmas at North Creek, the annual bazaar hosted by North Creek Presbyterian Church in Mill Creek.
Pederson said she likes North Creek’s “artsy” event because it benefits church mission work in Russia. And she gets to see familiar faces.
“I have many repeat customers,” Pederson said. “I have the phone number on the package so they call to ask if I’ll be at North Creek.”
The bazaar is set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church, 621 164th St. SE, Mill Creek.
