LYNNWOOD — A 31-year-old homeless man was found bleeding by the side of the road Sunday morning about 10. A passer-by saw the injured man in the 3900 block of 148th Street SW and called the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, who was conscious when the officers arrived, told them he had gotten into a fight the night before with another man. The argument escalated and the man hit the victim over the head with a hammer, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen.
The two men, along with an unidentified woman, had been living in a field near Highway 99, and sleeping in abandoned cars.
The victim was transported by aid car to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was held overnight Sunday for observation. The victim is expected to recover and be released today, Jorgensen said.
Deputies located the 24-year-old suspect. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second degree assault.

Woman falls from pick-up: A woman was airlifted Sunday to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle about 8:30 p.m. after she apparently fell out of a pick-up truck that was traveling west on the U.S. 2 trestle, near Homeacres Road.
Witnesses said the woman, a passenger in the truck, had fallen out of the vehicle. After she fell onto the highway, the vehicle, driven by a man of unknown age, continued on, but was stopped by witnesses, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Witnesses said the woman may have been run over by the vehicle. She was in critical condition Sunday night. Troopers took the driver into custody for further questioning.
