SEATTLE — State transportation officials are telling commuters to prepare for upcoming lane closures on State Route 99 north of downtown Seattle.
Starting 8 p.m. Monday, the median lanes will be closed in each direction between the Aurora Bridge and just north of Mercer Street. The closures are expected to last four to five weeks as contractor crews build four large sign foundations for the future Highway 99 tunnel.
Officials urge commuters to plan ahead, allow extra time to travel or find alternatives.
Roughly 74,000 vehicles travel that stretch each day.
