Two Arlington residents died Monday afternoon in a three-car accident on I-5 just north of the Snohomish-Skagit county line, the Washington State Patrol reported.
The accident happened about 12:50 p.m. near Conway in Skagit County. Leon Fix, 66, was heading south on the freeway and lost control of his 1998 Chevrolet Corvette, the State Patrol said. The car crossed the median and struck two cars in the northbound lanes.
Fix and his passenger, Penelope Fix, 61, both of Arlington, died at the scene.
Six other people were injured in the accident. Kelly Woodworth, 44, of Mukilteo, was the driver of one of the two cars struck by the Corvette. Woodworth and her passenger, a 55-year-old Mukilteo woman, were taken to Skagit Valley Medical Center in Mount Vernon.
Kevin Roberts, 39, of Renton, was driving the other car involved in the accident. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His three passengers were taken to Skagit Valley Medical Center.
The conditions of those injured in the crash were unavailable Monday evening.
The freeway’s northbound lanes were closed for about three hours following the accident.
