BOISE, Idaho — A technology company says it will lay off more than 1,500 employees at a Boise call center where workers handle questions about the federal health care law.
The Idaho Statesman reports that Maximus Inc. has hired, laid off and rehired hundreds of employees at the call center since 2013.
But the company says in a letter to employees that its contract is ending, and this time, the layoffs will be permanent.
Maximus, based in Reston, Virginia, serves health and human-service agencies under government contracts.
According to a lawsuit filed against the company, Maximus is a subcontractor under a $100 million, 30-month federal contract to provide customer service for health insurance exchanges run by the federal government.
