IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — An Idaho Falls man police say set fire to the home of an attorney who represented his former wife in a divorce case has been charged with first-degree arson.
The Post Register reported that 44-year-old Melvin Savage appeared in 7th District Court on Thursday after being returned to Idaho from Colorado where he fled.
Police say that Savage went to the attorney’s home at about 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 15 and started a fire outside a window near the front door
An Idaho Falls Police officer responded to the attorney’s 911 call and helped the attorney’s husband extinguish the fire at the home that sustained no significant damage.
Court documents say Savage sent threatening emails to the attorney between August and December.
Savage is being held on $250,000 bond.
