EVERETT – It’s official – the pop tarts are headed this way (the singers, not the toaster pastries).
The “American Idol Live” tour will make its only Washington stop July 17 at the Everett Events Center.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday for the performance, sponsored by Pop Tarts (the toaster pastries, not the singers).
For better or worse, the concert will feature all 10 finalists from the hit Fox television show, including the singers who were voted off.

The top two finalists, Fantasia Barrino and Diana DeGarmo, will perform, along with Jasmine Trias, who was voted off Wednesday night. Also performing will be La Toyo London, George Huff, John Stevens, Jennifer Hudsen, Jon Peter Lewis, Camile Velasco and Amy Adams. William Hung, famous for how poorly but valiantly he performed in the tryouts, will not perform.
This is the third “American Idol” tour. Not since the Partridge Family in the 1970s have TV stars so successfully packed their act and hit the road.
“American Idol” the television show got its start in the United Kingdom, and was an overnight success when it came to American TV in 2002.
Each week, millions of Americans tune in to watch the talent spectacle, and then vote by phone for their favorites. Popularity wins, sometimes arguably, over talent. It’s often the most-watched TV show each week.
The show has made stars of its first two winners, Kelly Clarkson and Ruben Studdard, and has brought fame (and infamy) to a few of its finalists and castoffs, including Clay Aiken, Frenchie Davis and, of course, Hung.
