Apply now for Navy cruise during Seafair

As part of Fleet Week during this year’s Seafair, the Navy is hosting guest cruises Aug. 1 aboard a Navy or Coast Guard vessel. Cruises depart from the Port of Seattle and last about six to eight hours, including boarding and disembarking.

Applications to participate are being accepted online until July 6. Application forms, along with guest cruise policies and procedures can be found online at www.shipriders.com.

People who want to cruise must be at least age 8. Cost is $20 and includes lunch on board the ship as it cruises around Puget Sound.

Active Duty

Navy Ensign Lauren Taglialavore, daughter of Mike and Debbie Taglialavore of Mukilteo, has graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. She earned a bachelor of science degree in oceanography. Taglialavore has been assigned to USS San Diego in San Diego, where she will begin her service.

Navy Seaman Reese Jameson, son of Keith Jameson of Oak Harbor, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Jameson is a 2011 graduate of Coupeville High School.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Andrew King, son of Dixie and George King of Lake Stevens, recently completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. King is a 2011 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.

Army Pvt. Randall Walker has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, S. C. He is scheduled to continue his training in Virginia this month. A 2011 graduate of Mariner High School, he is the son of Kevin Walker and Susan White.
