Air Force Airman Matthew F. Peiffle graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Peiffle is the son of Steven Peiffle of Stanwood. He is a 2010 graduate of Arlington High School.
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Chantelle Anderson of Everett, an aviation maintenance administration officer, is serving aboard the Bremerton-based aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis.
Navy Seaman Ryan F. Dietz, son of Anna Dietz of Everett, completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Dietz is a 2009 graduate of Cascade High School.
Navy Seaman Apprentice Nicholas C. Danner, son of Luz and Vincent Danner of Stanwood, recently completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Danner is a 2010 graduate of Lakewood High School.
Army Pvt. Richard L. Baran has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Baran is the son of Rick Baran of Oak Harbor. He is a 2011 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.
Army Staff Sgt. Jason M. Gilliland has returned overseas deployment. Gilliland is a maintenance officer assigned to the Fourth Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. He has served in the military for 10 years. He is the son of James Gilliland of Silverton, Idaho, and Kim Gilliland of Mullan, Idaho. His wife, Holly, is the daughter of Steve Gans of Everett and Sharroll Travis of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Navy Seaman Gregory J. Larson, son of Susan and John Larson of Edmonds, completed basic training at Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Larson is a 2003 graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School and a 2010 graduate of Cornish College of the Arts.
Army Spec. Bradley E. Chastain has returned from an overseas deployment. Chastain is an advanced field artillery tactical data systems analyst assigned to the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. He has served in the military for six years. He is the son of William and Deborah Chastain of Portland, Ore. His wife, Ranae, is the daughter of Warren and Jeanette Heinz of Everett.
Army Spec. Sean A. Gregory has returned from an overseas deployment. Gregory is fire support specialist with the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. He has served in the military for nearly three years. He is a 2009 graduate of Arlington High School.
Carrier Strike Group 11 held a change of command ceremony aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz on Feb. 11 in Everett. During the ceremony, Rear Adm. Gregory S. White relieved Rear Adm. Peter A. Gumataotao as commander of the group.
Gumataotao told the assembled crowd that he could not have asked for a better team. “I leave truly impressed with the incredible determination, dedication and professionalism that Warrior Team 11 has demonstrated,” he said.
White, previously the assistant commander of Navy Personnel Command for Career Management, is assuming command of the strike group as it prepares for deployment
