Army Spec. Seth L. Daris has returned home after an overseas deployment. Daris is a rifleman assigned to the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska. He has served in the military for two years. Daris is the son of Tami and Robert Stokke of Mountlake Terrace and is a 2010 graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School.
Air Force Airman Matthew Burgoyne graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Burgoyne is the son of Bill and Darcie Burgoyne of Oak Harbor and is a 2012 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.
Air Force Airman Chelsea L. Sowa graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Sowa is the daughter of Rhoda Sowa of Everett and granddaughter of Ken Sowa of Sequim. She is a 2011 graduate of Everett High School.
Air Force Airman James A. Ferris graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Ferris is the son of Joanna Fulton of Mountlake Terrace and George Slocum of Sultan. He is a 2010 graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Ashley Hill graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Hill is the daughter of Lesa Hill of Gold Bar and Eric Hill of SeaTac. She is a 2007 graduate of Sultan High School and earned an associate degree in 2012 from Cascadia Community College, Bothell.
Sailors from Electronic Attack Squadron VAQ 132, the Scorpions, were scheduled to return home Saturday after completing a seven-month deployment to Misawa Air Base in Japan.
As the first expeditionary Airborne Electronic Attack squadron to deploy to Japan since 2006, the Scorpions supported joint and coalition exercises across the Pacific Command area of operations. While deployed, the Scorpions also participated in numerous international exercises in Australia, Guam and South Korea.
The Scorpions enjoyed a few days of tropical weather at Wake Island before crossing the Pacific to Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii.
