Conservation district is hiring vets
LAKE STEVENS — The Snohomish Conservation District is hiring U.S. military veterans for a special crew to work on eco-friendly projects during the 2018 season.
Crew members will work with Snohomish County and Camano Island landowners on stormwater projects. Duties include building rain gardens, installing rain catchment systems and helping with habitat restoration projects, either by putting native plants in or tearing out non-native ones.
Applicants must be a U.S. military veteran, have transportation to Lake Stevens and be able to work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, March 1-June 30. Crew members in good standing at the end of the term can elect to stay on for the second term, July 1-Oct. 31.

Northwest Veterans Museum: The Northwest Veterans Museum is located in the Wicker Building at Heritage Park, 19921 Poplar Way, Lynnwood. Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society: The nonprofit provides interest-free loans and grants for emergency and unexpected financial needs for active duty, retired military and their family members. Hero’s Café: Hero’s Café, a social gathering for veterans, meets 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of each month at Verdant Health and Wellness Community Center, 4710 196th St. SW, Lynnwood. Veterans can share a cup of coffee and their stories. The program is a partnership between local veterans groups and the city of Lynnwood.
