VETERANS DAY EVENTS
USO Dance: The Carl Gipson Senior Center of Everett hosts the annual USO Veteran’s Day Dance, 1-5 p.m. Nov. 11 at 3025 Lombard Ave. All veterans from all wars are invited to join in on the fun, and are encouraged to bring their guests to this free event. Attendees must be older than 50. Live swing band music, 1940s displays, free refreshments. Admission is free but reserved tickets are required and must be picked up before the event. Free stuff: Area businesses salute veterans and active duty military on Veterans Day Nov. 11. Wienerschnitzel (5905 Evergreen Way, Everett) offers a free chili dog, small fries and a 20-ounce drink. Olive Garden offers a free entree from a special menu, served with unlimited soup or salad and breadsticks. Proof of service required.
Concert: A Veterans Day concert to honor military is set for 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at First Presbyterian Church of Everett, 2936 Rockefeller Ave. Featuring the church’s chancel and handbell choirs and guest vocalists. Refreshments to follow. More info: 425-259-7139.
Forget-Me-Not: Volunteers with Disabled American Veterans Snohomish County Chapter 13 will accept donations to help local disabled veterans, 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Nov. 11-13 at QFC, 11700 Mukilteo Speedway, Mukilteo. The blue silk flowers are sold as part of DAV Forget-Me-Not Day.

DAV membership cards: Disabled American Veterans Snohomish County Chapter 13 says a glitch prevented some new members from being routed to their local chapter for assistance. Anyone in Snohomish County who received a membership card with the number 46011 on it should contact the chapter to have it switched to a card with 46013. More info: 425-299-3373.
Bricks fundraiser: The Stanwood Area Historical Society plans a Community Veterans Memorial for a courtyard adjacent to the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center. A brick remembrance wall is part of the design. The names of veterans can be etched in a brick for a $150 donation to help fund the memorial’s construction. More info: SAHSRH2@aol.com.
Suits for Soldiers: Work attire can be donated to any local Farmers Insurance office through Nov. 30 as part of an effort to help veterans transition to the civilian workforce. More info: www.farmers.com/ careers/veterans-resources.

Resource workshop: A free Veteran’s Services Resource Workshop is offered 2-3 p.m. first Mondays at Everett Community Justice Center, 8625 Evergreen Way, Suite 108.
