Incumbent Edmonds City Councilwomen Lora Petso and Diane Buckshnis moved ahead of their challengers in votes counted Monday, but Councilman DJ Wilson continued to trail.
Petso had trailed challenger Darlene Stern and Buckshnis had trailed challenger Bob Wilcox throughout last week.
The Monday count shows Petso with 6,595 votes (50.04 percent) to 6,541 for Stern (49.63 percent).
The 54-vote difference is within the margin for a mandatory recount.
Buckshnis had a more substantial lead of 128 votes – outside the recount range.
A recount is required when the margin between the candidates is less than 0.5 percent of the two-candidate total.
Wilson trailed challenger Joan Bloom by 73 votes – just out of the recount range.
The Monday count came from a countywide turnout of 49.61 percent. Elections officials project a final countywide turnout of about 54 percent.
