LYNNWOOD – Police have arrested the father of a 10-month-old boy who has been hospitalized for severe head injuries.
The man, 29, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on Monday for investigation of first-degree assault of a child. He is expected to make an appearance in Everett District Court today.
According to police reports, the man was watching the child Sunday at an apartment in the 2700 block of Lincoln Way.
The boy’s mother told police when she returned home shortly after 11 p.m. she noticed the child’s injuries, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokesman deputy Rich Niebusch said.
Medics raced the child to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was in critical condition Monday.
The sheriff’s major crimes unit continues to investigate the assault.
Court records show the suspect was arrested Thursday at the apartment in a domestic violence case involving the boy’s mother. He pleaded innocent to fourth-degree domestic violence assault Friday in Snohomish County South District Court in Lynnwood.
He was released from jail on his own recognizance but was ordered not to have contact with the victim.
