SPOKANE — The Spokane County sheriff’s office said a 57-year-old inmate died Thursday night in the county jail.
The sheriff’s office said there were other offenders in the dorm at the time but there were no signs of a fight or trauma.
The county medical examiner’s office has identified the man as John Edward Murphy. The medical examiner said no injuries were found, pending microscopic examination, and more investigation will be needed to determine the manner of death.
Corrections officers and nurses tried unsuccessfully to revive Murphy.
