SPOKANE — An inmate from the Airway Heights Corrections Center who was on a work crew was electrocuted in a logging accident south of Springdale.
The Department of Corrections said the inmate was in a work release forestry group working with the Department of Natural Resources when the accident occurred on Monday.
Officials with the agency said he was electrocuted while cutting a small tree that fell on a live power line.
Corrections identified the man as 22-year-old Danny R. Bergeson, who was convicted in Skagit County of attempting to elude a police vehicle. He was a minimum custody prisoner scheduled to be released next January.
