CLALLAM BAY— A corrections official says an inmate at the Clallam Bay Corrections Center stabbed a corrections officer in the face and neck with a pen Monday morning.
Corrections spokesman Fay Gingell said the officer was being treated at Olympic Medical Center with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
She told the Peninsula Daily Newsthat the facility has been locked down, with all programs and visits cancelled Monday. The superintendent will determine when to return to normal operations.
Gingell says the inmate suspected in the assault has been isolated in the corrections center’s intensive management unit. She did not release the name of the offender or officer.
The correctional facility, located on the northwest tip of the Olympic peninsula, houses about 850 offenders.
