SEATTLE — King County Executive Dow Constantine has ordered an inquest into a Seattle police officer’s fatal shooting of an intoxicated man with a replica gun.
Police responded on Jan. 20 to reports of an intoxicated man at a bus stop in Seattle’s Sodo neighborhood. They say they found him pointing a gun at cars and passers-by. Police say the 36-year-old man refused commands to drop his weapon, pointed it at them, and an officer shot him.
Police later determined that Andrew Law had a replica handgun.
County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg recommended the inquest after his office reviewed an investigation conducted by Seattle police.
