Democratic Congressman Jay Inslee’s desire to stock his warchest for governor with donations collected in past races for Congress is drawing fire from a strategist for his Republican opponent, state Attorney General Rob McKenna.
Mike Baker of the Associated Press lays out the issue here.
Baker quotes McKenna’s campaign manager Randy Pepple as describing the proposed money transfer as “illegal” and suggests the campaign or someone else will likely file a complaint with the state Public Disclosure Commission if it goes through.
This could create an interesting situation down the road because McKenna’s office typically defends PDC interests in court.
I’m checking to see how it could play out.
In the meantime, you can check the latest fund raising totals for Inslee, McKenna and the rest of the candidates on the PDC web site.
