SEATTLE — What happens to the Swiss army knives, screwdrivers and similar prohibited items that are confiscated by Transportation Security Administration guards at Sea-Tac Airport?
Many of them end up being sold at a state surplus store in Tumwater.
KIRO-FM reports that if passengers decide not to drop out of line to check a bag or ship an item home, it’s turned over to the state Department of Enterprise Services. The department operates the store in Tumwater where solid surplus items are sold. Confiscated liquids are destroyed.
