It’s beginning to look a lot like a patriotic Christmas

Herald staff

Herald readers shared a few suggestions for viewing of holiday lighting displays:

  • A patriotic theme is set up at 1796 Goat Trail Loop in the Elloit Pointe subdivision in Mukilteo. Pam Newsome said her husband, Mike, and their son, Matt, spent the entire Thanksgiving weekend constructing a 6-foot-by-5-foot American flag out of Christmas lights that hangs proudly over the garage.

Apparently, Matt Newsome and his friend Clay, who lives down the street, have an ongoing holiday lights competition. Clay’s family lives at 1625 Goat Trail Loop, where lights spell out "USA" in red, white and blue on the roof. An American flag hangs from an upstairs window and has a spotlight on it.

"I think that it is also worth noting that they are sophomores in college who do not think it is goofy at all to show their patriotism this holiday season," Pam Newsome said.

  • Great lights can be found at 9515 66th Dr. NE, in Marysville, say the neighbors.

  • Red, white and blue lights are up at 13501 29th Ave. SE, in Bothell.

  • Jim Glover’s house at 9009 Highway 92 in Granite Falls is decorated with more than 4,000 lights that he and his sons placed a couple of weeks ago. While the main house is done in the traditional Christmas colors and theme, the west side of the house is decorated with long strands of red, white and blue lights flowing from rooftop to ground.

  • All merchants in downtown Granite Falls belonging to the chamber of commerce have their windows painted with traditional holiday greens. But this year, the greens are wrapped in red, white and blue ribbons. The windows were painted by Waggoner’s Studio, local artists.
