BREMERTON — A Kitsap firing range is fighting a judge’s injunction ordering compliance with a September ordinance that requires gun ranges to obtain operating permits from the county.
The Kitsap Sun reported no one has fired a gun at the shooting range since last week when the injunction was signed, and the Kitsap Rifle and Revolver Club intends to file an appeal.
Ordinances spell out safety and operating standards, but the club’s executive officer, Marcus Carter, said requiring a permit for historical activity goes too far.
Deputy prosecuting attorney Christy Palmer said she wants the group to at least submit an application so the gun range can stay open while it works its way through the approval process.
Palmer said an appeal would only prolong a possible solution.
