TACOMA, Wash. — A Pierce County judge has ruled that records filed with Tacoma officials about a planned liquefied natural gas plant in the Port of Tacoma should be made public, though his ruling will be shelved pending a possible appeal.
The News Tribune reports that Superior Court Judge Frank Cuthbertson ruled that Tacoma should turn over records related to safety risks posed by the proposed plant to activist John Carlton.
An attorney for Puget Sound Energy, the company that proposed the plant, says an appeal has not yet been filed but is probable.
The proposed $275 million gas production and storage facility has drawn staunch criticism from environmental activists and other members of the community.
