Jury acquits former Mukilteo camp director of molestation

EVERETT — A Snohomish County jury on Friday acquitted a former Mukilteo YMCA summer camp director of first-degree child molestation.

Claudio Roberto Compos Coimbra, 50, had been accused of groping a 10-year-old girl at Picnic Point Elementary School in 2009.

Following a weeklong trial jurors were not convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that Coimbra molested the girl.

Coimbra denied the allegations when questioned by police. He has been in jail since October.

He was initially suspended from his job and has since been fired.
