TACOMA — Jurors in Tacoma have convicted a 21-year-old man of aggravated first-degree murder in the strangling death of a 16-year-old developmentally disabled Puyallup girl.
Tyler Savage’s defense lawyers contended the 2010 death of Kimberly Daily was the result of a sex game gone wrong.
Savage faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole. Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist didn’t seek the death penalty. Formal sentencing is set for Jan. 17.
Jurors were told that Savage and the victim knew each other through mutual friends in their neighborhood and agreed on Facebook to meet on Aug. 17, 2010, ending up in a vacant lot.
The prosecution says jurors found that Savage committed the murder in the course of rape, that the murder was sexually motivated and that the victim was particularly vulnerable.
