U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Samuel Stewart graduated Aug. 18 from Officer Candidates School in Quanitco, Virginia, and received his officer’s commission Aug. 24 at the University of Washington. The achievements follow his graduation in June from UW, where he earned degrees in history and political science while participating in the ROTC program.
Kyle Storbakken, a U.S. Army veteran and longtime family friend, gave him his first salute as an officer.
Stewart also was joined at his commissioning by his brothers, U.S. Navy Lt. Joshua Stewart and U.S. Navy Ensign Benjamin Stewart. All three are graduates of Kamiak High School.
They are the sons of Ken Stewart, of Mukilteo, and Beth Stewart and Shawn Roten, also of Mukilteo.
“To have all three boys in the family as officers in our Armed Forces … (we are) very proud of these young men,” Beth Stewart said.
