EVERETT — Today is Election Day.
Across Snohomish County, voters will decide on dozens of contested races for mayoral, city council and school board positions, along with a number of local ballot measures.
Ballots must be dropped off by 8 p.m. at one of 35 ballot drop boxes across the county. Voters can also mail their ballot, but the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office recommends requesting a free hand-stamped postmark at the counter to ensure their ballot is counted. Ballots postmarked after Nov. 4 will not be counted.
The Daily Herald will publish initial election results shortly after 8 p.m. when the auditor’s office releases initial vote counts. Readers can follow our coverage at HeraldNet.com/elections. There, they will also find interviews with dozens of candidates in contested races from across the county.
Ballots will continue to be counted throughout the week, and The Herald will continue to update its coverage as new numbers come in. Election results will be certified on Nov. 25.
A total of 95,866 ballots were received as of 4 p.m. Monday, county data shows — about an 18% turnout. Turnout in odd-year general elections usually hovers around the 40% mark. The last off-year general election in 2023 garnered a 36% turnout countywide.
