Sen. John Kerry has taken the early lead in electoral votes, with 51, winning four states.
President Bush had 48 electoral votes as 24 states back East closed polling today.
Kerry also leads in one state with 4 electoral votes. Bush leads in six states with 94 votes.
Bush had 2,062,641 votes, or 57 percent of the popular vote, and Kerry 1,529,495, or 42 percent.
The results are with just 2 percent of the nationwide tally reporting.
It takes 270 Electoral votes to win the presidency.
