RENTON — A quiet ceremony has been held in Renton to bury 205 King County residents whose remains were unclaimed after they died.
KING-TV King said the Monday burial is part of the county’s Indigent Remains Program. The county cremates and buries people if their relatives cannot be found or cannot properly dispose of the remains.
The burials happen about every two years at Renton’s Mt. Olivet Cemetery. About 30 people attended this year’s ceremony, and clergy from a variety of denominations spoke.
