PORT ORCHARD — Kitsap County Prosecutor Russ Hauge says a tribal police officer was justified when he shot and killed a Suquamish resident in December.
Hauge said in a report released Friday that Port Gamble S’Klallam detective Greg Graves used necessary deadly force against Thomas Anthony Black at a home on Dec. 8. The prosecutor said the officer’s actions do not warrant criminal charges.
Deputies and Suquamish and S’Klallam tribal police went to the house to arrest another man wanted for violating parole. Hauge’s report said officers demanded that Black raise or show his hands at least eight times.
The Kitsap Sun reported that two pathologists determined the cause of Black’s death to be gunshot wounds with acute methamphetamine intoxication as a contributing factor.
