LACEY — Lacey police say they found the body of a newborn baby girl at a home after a 29-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to a hospital with what were described as medical complications.
Cmdr. John Suessman said the woman’s 28-year-old husband called an ambulance to take his wife from the couple’s home to Providence St. Peter Hospital on Sunday afternoon. Suessman said the woman remained at the hospital today.
The officer said the cause of the baby’s death has not been determined and an autopsy was planned Tuesday.
Suessman said people “are thinking the baby was less than a day old.” He refused to say why police decided to go to the Lacey home but says they obtained a warrant to search it. He said officers found the dead infant Sunday night.
