A legal arbitrator recently upheld Snohomish County Fire District 8’s decision to fire its fire chief last fall.
The fire district in Lake Stevens terminated Gary Faucett while he was on vacation in September 2010.
Fire district leaders at the time wanted to “redirect the course” of the district, they said in a statement issued Monday.
Faucett challenged the firing and asked for a binding legal decision.
Last week, arbitrator George Finkle upheld the termination and denied all of Faucett’s claims, district officials said.
The fire district wishes Faucett well and is grateful for his service in Lake Stevens, the statement said.
