The Lake Stevens High School FCCLA chapter was selected to receive the 2017 National First Place High School Career Connection Award, sponsored by Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). The school will receive a $1,000 award at a national leadership conference in July.
The Lake Stevens FCCLA won for its “Road to Success” project, which helps students discover their strengths and link them to future career goals, then make a plan to reach those goals. Students brought their program into high school classrooms, talked with parents at a career night, and gave a presentation to younger students. They also organized an “elective fair” to highlight career and technical education classes.
