LAKE STEVENS — Police arrested a man after he allegedly stabbed his wife in the chest with a knife.
The stabbing happened just before 3 p.m. Monday in the 2200 block of Grade Road.
Police received a call from the man, 39, who said his wife tried to kill herself with a knife. The 911 dispatcher overheard the woman say the man was trying to kill her, according to Police Chief Randy Celori.
Officers arrived to find the partially clad man in the driveway and the woman inside the house with a stab wound to the chest and multiple cuts on her leg.
The woman, 44, told police her husband stabbed her. She was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Her condition was not known because of new federal medical privacy laws.
Celori said he didn’t think the injuries were life threatening.
The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail under investigation for first-degree assault.
Lake Stevens officers have been called to the house three times in the past year, Celori said. The woman was arrested in March for domestic violence and was arrested two days later for violating a protection order, Celori said. Officers were also called to the house for a disturbance, in which it was reported that there was someone in the yard with a knife.
