LAKE STEVENS — Want to get rid of that stuff you’ve piled up all winter but haven’t gotten around to throwing out yet? This is your chance.
Today is the one time of the year when those who live in the city can clean up for free by taking advantage of the city’s fourth annual Spring Cleaning Day.
Trash must be sorted by type prior to arrival at the drop-off site at Lake Stevens High School. Allowable items include trash (furniture, toys and debris), tires (off rims and no larger than standard pickup size), metals and yard waste. All those items can be disposed of at no charge.
Disposal of a refrigerator is $25, and computers, monitors and televisions are $30 each.
Participants must provide proof of residency with a photo identification card with a city address, or photo ID and a utility bill in their name at a city address. Addresses will be verified at the drop-off, said Heather Coleman of the Lake Stevens Police Department.
The disposal hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m. today at the Lake Stevens High School parking lot, 2908 113th Ave. NE.
Household or kitchen-type trash, bricks, rocks, concrete, sod, dirt and tractor tires will not be accepted. Call 425-334-9537 during business hours for the regulations regarding disposal of motor bikes and large vehicle parts.
Household hazardous waste also cannot be disposed of through this program, but is accepted year-round 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday at 3434 McDougall Ave. in Everett at no charge. For more information, call 425-388-6050.
