LAKE STEVENS — The school board on Tuesday morning awarded a contract for the construction of the Lake Stevens School District’s new elementary school and early learning center.
The board voted to award a $38.5 million contract to Roger Hickel Contracting Inc. That’s $1 million less than the district estimated for the cost of the second phase of construction. The first phase, which was site preparation, already has been finished. The second phase includes the construction of the buildings.
The goal is to open a new preschool in fall 2017 and a new elementary in January 2018. The campus is between Soper Hill Road and Lake Drive, just east of Highway 9.
