LAKE STEVENS – The city is seeking applicants for people interested in filling 12 positions on local boards and commissions.
Applications are available at City Hall.
Mayor Lynn Walty will interview candidates and make recommendations to the City Council. Applicants are required to live in or own property within the city or its urban growth area, city clerk Norma Scott said.
There are four seats on the city parks board with terms that expire Dec. 31. The parks board meets at 6:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at 1808 Main St.
Dan DuByne, who was appointed in February 2001, has decided not to seek another term on the board and his seat will also be vacant.
There is one seat with a term expiring Dec. 31 on the city planning commission. The commission meets at 7 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month at 1808 Main St., and sometimes also meets the third Wednesday of the month.
Two positions on the library board have terms expiring this year. The board meets as needed at 1808 Main St.
Four positions on the seven-member arts commission expire at the end of the year and one unexpired term also needs to be filled. The commission meets at 6:30 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the annex behind City Hall at 1812 Main St.
The person who fills the unexpired term will serve until Dec. 31, 2006, Scott said.
The terms for all the above positions are four years, Scott said.
There also is a vacancy on the civil service commission, which meets as needed, usually a couple of times a year. That person must have lived in the city for three years prior to being appointed to the commission. The six-year term expires July 1, 2005.
Anyone interested in seeking one of the available positions should pick up an application at City Hall or call 425-334-1012 to request an application by mail.
