SPOKANE — Two environmental groups are suing the Environmental Protection Agency for what they say is its failure to force the Washington Department of Ecology to create a plan to clean-up PCBs in the Spokane River.
The Spokane branch of the Sierra Club and the Center for Environmental Law and Policy have filed the lawsuit in federal court.
They contend they have for seven years asked the agencies for a river cleanup plan and warned them not to permit adding more pollution to the Spokane River.
PCBs are industrial compounds associated with liver disease and cancer.
