NEW ORLEANS — A lawyer working for the administrator overseeing a multibillion-dollar settlement from the 2010 BP oil spill in the Gulf has resigned after being accused of misconduct.
Nick Gagliano is a spokesman for court-appointed administrator Patrick Juneau. He told The Associated Press that the lawyer, Lionel H. Sutton III, quit Friday morning.
Gagliano said Juneau would have no further comment beyond a statement he issued earlier Friday, in which he pledged to conduct a thorough investigation.
BP PLC is calling for an independent probe.
